DCPC Training: Ensuring Compliance and Competence

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) is a mandatory qualification for professional drivers of lorries, buses, and coaches in the UK.

Introduced to improve road safety and maintain high standards within the transport industry, DCPC training is essential for drivers to stay compliant and competent.

Professional drivers are required to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years to maintain their DCPC qualification.

This training can be broken down into 7-hour modules, allowing drivers to spread their learning across multiple sessions or complete it in a shorter timeframe.

The training covers a wide range of topics, including road safety, vehicle maintenance, and industry regulations, ensuring drivers are well-prepared for the challenges of their profession.

Failure to complete the required training can result in penalties of up to £1,000 and the loss of eligibility to drive professionally.
