What is Live Fire Extinguisher Training?

Live Fire Extinguisher Training is a practical, hands-on session designed to teach participants how to safely and effectively operate different types of fire extinguishers on controlled, real fires. Under the direct supervision of our experienced instructors, attendees will learn:

• Understanding Fire Extinguisher Types: Differentiating between water, foam, CO₂, powder, and wet chemical extinguishers, and understanding their appropriate uses for different classes of fire (e.g., electrical, flammable liquids, solid combustibles).
• Safe Handling and Operation: Learning the correct techniques for approaching a fire, aiming, and discharging an extinguisher, following the "PASS" (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) method.
• Recognising Fire Classes: Identifying the specific type of fire (Class A, B, C, D, F, and electrical) to select the correct extinguisher for maximum effectiveness and safety.
• Assessing When to Fight or Flee: Crucially, understanding the limitations of extinguishers and knowing when a fire is too large or dangerous to tackle, prioritising personal safety and evacuation.
• Practical Application: Hands-on experience extinguishing controlled live fires (e.g., using a fire pan or similar training prop), reinforcing theoretical knowledge with real-world practice.
